Patricia Funk, Full Professor at the Faculty of Economics of Università della Svizzera italiana (USI), has been appointed to the Council of the European Economic Association (EEA) for a five-year term starting in 2026.

The European Economic Association (EEA) is a leading European academic organisation that promotes the development of economics as a science, fosters communication among teachers, researchers and students, strengthens links between universities and research centres, and facilitates dialogue between academic economists and policymakers. Among the EEA's main activities are the organisation of the annual congress of the EEA and the publication of the Journal of the European Economic Association (JEEA).

The EEA Council, composed of up to 36 members elected by the Association's membership, is responsible for overseeing the Association's activities, in particular the work of the Executive Committee (formerly the Administrative Board). Council members contribute to strategic decisions, help shape the Association's scientific and institutional activities, promote its initiatives, and ensure that the EEA remains aligned with its mission.

The official announcement of the newly appointed members is available on the EEA website: eeassoc.org.
