Practicalities for the USI community

Housing in Lugano / Mendrisio

Unfortunately, USI does not have enough accommodation on campus for all students.
The majority of Bachelor/Master and PhD students looking for accommodation will have to make their own arrangements, but they can rely on support from the Housing Service.

  • Student residences

USI’s two student residences (USI Home on the Lugano campus, Casa dell’Accademia on the Mendrisio campus) are reserved first of all for exchange students, international students on certain scholarships and German-Swiss or French-Swiss students enrolled in the first year of the Bachelor in Architecture.

Other students may apply for accommodation, but should understand that their application is unlikely to be accepted.

    For further information:

  • Accommodation off campus

Students needing to make their own arrangements for accommodation may seek help from the Housing Service.
The Services does not guarantee to find them accommodation, but offers Bachelor/Master and PhD students:

  • Exchange students

Mobility students as SEMP (ex Erasmus) and other exchanges programs that will apply for a room within a deadline will have priority over other students for the on campus residences (see above): USI Home in Lugano and Casa dell'Accademia in Mendrisio.
