Humanitarian Insights

Throughout the academic year 2017-2018, USI will host academics and practitioners from all over the world to teach intensive courses at the Master of Advanced Studies in Humanitarian Logistics and Management (MASHLM), organized in six one-week blocks. The Humanitarian Insights public lecture series was designed to share the opportunity to interact with visiting faculty, our colleagues at USI and the general public. 

The Humanitarian Operations Group at USI focuses on applying research in human behavior and developing decision making tools for the humanitarian sector. The master’s program in Logistics and Management guides humanitarian professionals in using these tools in real time to approach issues they face day to day to improve their organizations’ ability to provide aid to people in need. 

The next public lecture in the series will take place on October 17, at 6PM in room A21 at the Lugano campus. The discussion will be on how network design analysis can improve distributing emergency relief in a disaster.
