Which challenges await the Swiss and International agri-food sector? What will be the role of digitalisation in supporting the short supply chain and local producers? What are the consumer’s responsibilities?

The founder of Slow Food and President of Slow Food International, Carlo Petrini will try to answer these questions during a conference organised by the Institute of Management and Organization of USI Faculty of Economics and the Centro di Competenze Agroalimentari Ticino, in the context of the activities of Lugano Città del Gusto 2018.

The event will be held in Italian on Wednesday, April 18 at 5:30pm in the Lugano campus Auditorium with the participation of State Councillor and Head of the Department of Finance and Economic Affairs of Canton Ticino Christian Vitta, USI Rector Boas Erez, and USI lecturer and researcher Carmine Garzia. A Q&A session with the audience will close the event.

The Centro di Competenze Agroalimentari Ticino (CCAT) is a non-profit association result of the cantonal need to appoint a central entity in Ticino for the management and promotion of projects related to the agri-food sector (production, transformation, logistics, distribution, catering-hotel, and tourism).

Initially supported by regional funds, the association’s main goal is to foster the production and consumption of local food through collaborations with the tourism, gastronomy and catering sector, and the promotion of the brand “made in Ticino” by giving visibility to a network of stores that sell local products.

The Association consists of a General Assembly in charge of strategic tasks, a Board of Directors responsible for strategy implementation, and a coordinator.
