Macroeconomics Forum 2025 - Ticino between challenges and opportunities

The "Macroeconomic Forum 2025 - Ticino between challenges and opportunities" will be held on Tuesday, 6 May, from 5:30 to 8 pm at Università della Svizzera italiana (USI) in the West Campus Lugano Aula Magna. The high-profile institutional event is aimed at the student and academic community and the general public.

The Forum will be officially opened by an institutional video message from Federal Councillor and former President of the Swiss Confederation Dr. Ignazio Cassis, currently Head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs. This exclusive contribution, addressed especially to USI students, adds further prestige to the event.

During the evening, several special guests will analyse various economic aspects of Ticino: Dr Christian Vitta, State Councillor and Director of the Department of Finance and Economy of the Canton of Ticino; Michele Foletti, Mayor of the City of Lugano; Franco Citterio, Director of the Ticino Banking Association; and Dr Attilio Zanetti, Deputy Member of the SNB's Governing Board.

The encounter (held in Italian), organised and moderated by Professor Edoardo Beretta, will also actively involve Bachelor's and Master's students from the USI Faculty of Economics through a competition to award the best idea for macroeconomic development applied to Ticino. The winners will be announced during the event by Dr Fabio Bossi, the Swiss National Bank's delegate for regional economic relations for Ticino. The award committee comprises Fabio Bossi, Delegate for Regional Economic Relations at the SNB; Prof. Edoardo Beretta, Full Professor at USI Faculty of Economics; and Prof. Giovanni Pica, Dean of USI Faculty of Economics.

6:10 pm The Ticino Financial Centre: Between Tradition and Evolution (speech by Franco Citterio, Director of the Ticino Banking Association)

6:25 pm Ticino in the Swiss economic and monetary context (speech by Attilio Zanetti, Alternate Member of the SNB Governing Board)

6:40 pm Q&A session moderated by Professor Edoardo Beretta

6:55 pm Awarding of prizes to the Bachelor's and Master's students by Fabio Bossi, Delegate for Regional Economic Relations, SNB
