Giovanni Zavaritt appointed Secretary General of USI

During the ordinary session held on Friday, 27 September 2019, the University Council has appointed Giovanni Zavaritt as the new USI Secretary General.

Giovanni Zavaritt (1979) holds a PhD in Political Communication and an Executive Master of Science in Communications Management. From 2014 to 2019 he was Head of Communication at USI. Since 2015 he has been member of the Board of the Science et Cité foundation.

During the last four years Prof. Erez was assisted in his work by Secretary General Albino Zgraggen, who ceased his activity as he reached retirement age as of June 2019, and since July 2017 by the Administrative Director Cristina Largader. After a public call for applications, in which 125 candidates took part, and the relevant selection procedure, the University Council, during its ordinary session held on Friday, appointed Giovanni Zavaritt as the new Secretary General of USI.

The Secretary General assists the Rector in the ordinary management of USI. He sits in the Rectorate and in the Steering Committee and contributes to overseeing the overall performance of the University and to coordinating planning and development activities.
