Education on topics related to blockchain is one of the pillars of the Lugano Plan B project. With the new training course B4B - Blockchain for Business, the City of Lugano proposes a new feature: an educational offer intended for operators in the economic sector on topics related to the world of blockchain. The combination of the competencies of local universities guarantees the innovative qualities of the project and its impact on local know-how.

The training course presented on Friday - promoted by Lugano Living Lab with Università della Svizzera italiana, USI, the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland, SUPSI, and Franklin University Switzerland, FUS - is aimed at administrators, managers and operators of companies active in Ticino mainly in the services sector and interested in developing more knowledge in the blockchain field. It is aimed, in particular, at professionals working in banks (asset & wealth management, private banking, etc.), commodities trading and transport; consulting companies (accounting, tax, auditing, M&A, taxation, legal, etc.) and companies operating in real estate services (real estate brokerage, etc.).

The presentation was attended by Michele Foletti, Mayor of Lugano; Luca Maria Gambardella, Pro-rector for Innovation and Corporate Relations, USI; Emanuele Carpanzano, Director of Research, Development and Knowledge Transfer (SUPSI); Kim Hildebrant, Chair of the Board of Trustees, FUS and Fabio Lucidi, Senior Manager of Deloitte Consulting.

The course represents the first tangible output of the agreement signed on 26 October between the City of Lugano, USI, SUPSI and Franklin University Switzerland. As part of the Lugano Plan B project, the three universities have signed a framework agreement to consolidate their collaboration and disseminate Bitcoin and Blockchain technology through educational activities, creating a permanent working table to coordinate the educational offerings related to this technology.

The training course will cover a broad spectrum of topics related to blockchain technology - from technological aspects to regulatory, accounting and tax aspects - providing the basics and essential background for professionals who intend to approach this new and disruptive technology, which is becoming increasingly pervasive in the activities and business of disparate sectors.

Among the speakers who will take part in the course are influential professionals who will add value thanks to their significant expertise in the field of blockchain technology, such as lecturers, lawyers and professors from local universities (Luca Ambrosini SUPSI; Edoardo Beretta, USI/FUS; Claudio Cereghetti, SUPSI; Giuliano Gremlich SUPSI; Slobodan Lukovic, USI), experts active in the private economy with activities in the blockchain world or in service companies that work closely with this technology (Paolo Ardoino and Riccardo Masutti of Tether/Bitfinex; Gianni Cattaneo, Studio CBM and SUPSI lecturer; Paolo Gianturco, Emanuele Guzzoni and Fabio Lucidi of Deloitte Consulting; Emanuele Guzzoni) and the Director of the Tax Division of the Canton of Ticino, Giordano Macchi

The course comprises 16 hours of lectures, will start on 21 April and end on 26 May. It is possible to enrol by 31 March. Places are limited to a maximum of 30 participants. The registration fee is CHF 1,000. Participants may, however, apply for a scholarship (subject to limited availability and in favour of persons and companies in the Lugano area) and receive a reduced fee of CHF 500.
